Amanda Riendeau (Ree-En-Doe) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience as a Child (ages 5 and up) Therapist, Teen Counselor, Adult Therapist, Family Counselor, Parenting and Co-parenting Therapist, and is also independently licensed in the states of Iowa and Alabama as well as an approved as a board-approved Supervisor by the State of Alabama to supervise Social Workers as they work towards their licensure requirements.

Amanda has experience and training using a cognitive behavioral (CBT) approach, which is extremely effective in treating disorders such as anxiety, depression, marital problems, and many other emotional, relational or mental health struggles. She also is trained in the use of Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Brief-Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT) to help clients who have difficulties with ambivalence, lack of motivation, apathy, and insecurities. Amanda also specializes in the treatment for child and adult Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and children/teen/young adults with chronic health conditions, working with clients to build skills to address communication issues, behavioral problems, anger/frustration tolerance, emotional regulation, impulse control, focus/attention, self-esteem and transition challenges.

Amanda takes a solution focused approach addressing problems such as anxiety, depression, communication issues, behavior problems, anger management/ frustration tolerance issues, emotional regulation struggles, impulse control issues, focus issues, ADHD issues, self-esteem, trauma, transitions struggles (new home, new school/job, new child), medical diagnosis issues, parenting/co-parenting issues, bi-polar disorder, school problems, peer problems, bullying problems, work problems, social skills struggles, relationship problems, sexuality and identity issues, abuse issues (emotional, physical, sexual), risky behaviors, dual diagnoses, and other challenges that may affect the emotional, relational, and mental health state of the individual or family unit.

Prior to obtaining her master’s degree from the University of Southern California and becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Orlando, Amanda obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Her experience in work environments include child protective services, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, community mental health and outpatient therapy services. She has had the opportunity to work in several states including New Mexico and Alabama.

Outside of working with clients, offering professional presentations on mental health topics and providing supervision to newly licensed social workers in Alabama, Amanda enjoys spending time at the beach collecting seashells, trying new restaurant scenes and travelling to new places with her small family.

Young Adult and Adolescent Therapy

Having a teenager in the home or being a teenager/young adult can be an incredibly challenging part of development. Some teens/young adults can have minor issues including difficulty with peers, lack of motivation/direction, and impulsiveness while others may have more serious concerns such as violence, substance use and a history of trauma. Outpatient therapy can offer opportunities for teens/young adults to find direction and support to help solve current concerns or prepare themselves for the next chapter in their future.

ADHD for Children, Teens and Adults

ADHD is a common child/adolescent diagnosis characterized by impulsivity, difficulty with concentration/motivation, and emotional dysregulation. It was once also understood as a childhood diagnosis that “people grew out of.” Extensive research now shows ADHD symptoms and struggles continue across the lifespan and was often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed for many adults. Proper assessment/evaluation, along with therapy treatment to address concerns can help the person feel more in control and effective at managing symptoms and addressing concerns.
